My Class Rm. Devotion

He’s Just Like His Daddy

Here is my “Devotion”.  The Spirit through Elder Nash, instructed me of what exactly a “Devotion” is.  And since The Spirit did not choose me as one of the volunteers to present a “Devotion” in class, He has led me to present it to a methuselah(or bunch ) of bikers.

Praise God.

You ever been in the presence of someone and got to know them or things about them pretty well and one day see or meet a person just like them in their ways; only to find out, they are father and son?  Or have you ever known someone so well, you knew what they were thinking and feeling before they expressed themselves in words?

Take a look in your Bibles at John 14:16-17.  That would be the 4th book in the New Testament.  I’m reading from the -Life Application- the first and only Bible I’ve ever owned.  Pastor Lee and Minister Don Smith bought me this Bible and a Concordance back in ’93.  It reads, 16) “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17) the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

ü      Jesus says, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.”

  1. Notice how close and ‘one’ Jesus and the Father are.  Jesus says He will (future tense) ask the Father a question.  Then, before He has even asked the Father the question; He (present tense) gives them the answer of the Father.  So, how did Jesus know the answer of the Father before the Father was even asked the question?
  2. Well, we all know when Philip asked Jesus about the appearance of the Father His response was, “When you see Me, you see the Father.”  In other words, Jesus was saying; He and the Father are just alike in all of their ways, looks & thoughts.
  3. Jesus said, “Ask in His name and you shall receive.   So, do you think Jesus was going to follow His own teaching by asking for the Holy Ghost in the name of the Father?  Yes.  Do you think that had a part in Him knowing in advance what His/our Father was going to say in answering the request?  Yes.
  4.  Turn to John 15:7.   It reads 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”  Do think Jesus had God’s words in Him?  Well, based on the fact that He is the Word of God; I would say, yes.  I know “the lord giveth and the lord taketh away.” ain’t in the Bible (wink…wink) but I heard, I stand at your door, walk by faith not by sight & speak those things as though they were.
  5. Turn to Matthew 9:27-28.  Read 27-28 As Jesus left the house, he was followed by two blind men crying out, "Mercy, Son of David! Mercy on us!" When Jesus got home, the blind men went in with him. Jesus said to them, "Do you really believe I can do this?" They said, "Why, yes, Master!"
  6. Notice the two blind men see Jesus leaving a house.  Yes that’s right.  I said they ‘see’ Jesus leave the house of the ‘living little girl’.  And I say they ‘see’ Him because they not only spoke things as though they were but they lived and behaved as though they had 20/20 vision, while still blind in the flesh.  Then they followed Him.  But how?  They walked by faith and not by sight.  Lol…lol...lol…
  7. Don’t we all want to go to our Father’s house?  By following Jesus where did He lead the blind?  To His house! Amen.  The Word says you reap what you sow, right?  So, by inviting Jesus into your home look at verses 27-28 and see where He invited the two imperfect men.  Yep.  Into His house.
  8. Jesus then asked them a question he already knew the answer to, just as He did in the book of John. He asked the blind men if they believed they would be healed.  They responded, ‘yes’.  Then Jesus in verses 29 says, “Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; 30 and their sight was restored.  So faith, which pleases God, had a major influence in the men receiving what they asked for, right?  Therefore, Jesus treated the situation the same way the Father does with Him.  So, is it safe to say, faith, was part of Jesus knowing in advance what His Father was going to say about His request?  Yes.  Do think Jesus was demonstrating walking by faith?  Yes!

ü      When we pray….we say, ‘in Jesus name’, all the time.  But what does that really mean?  ‘in Jesus name’….   It means, as Christians, we must conduct ourselves like Jesus in all aspects of our lives; and not just prayer alone.  So, when we pray and the Holy Ghost takes our prayer to the Father for us; we are asking Him to present it to the Father as though Jesus was speaking the words Himself.  Like Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Him; we should be in Jesus and Jesus in us via the Holy Ghost.  And if Jesus is in us, then the Father, Who is in Jesus, will also be in us, too and we in Him.  So remember when we pray, to be like Jesus.  How so?  Well, He prayed things that were the will of the Father.  And in a way that the father would receive/ listen to what was being spoken.  Thank Jesus for the Holy Ghost!  So, since Jesus also intercedes for us; make sure the Holy Ghost Guides your thinking and words to Jesus. So, do you think Jesus having the Father in His heart and the Father having Jesus in His heart had anything to do with Jesus answering the Father before the Father was asked?  Take a look at John 14 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." Yes.

ü      According to John 14:16 how long will the Holy Ghost be with us?  Forever is right.  So, what that tells us?  That God the Father, Son or Holy Ghost does not give and take away.  That’s a common lie of the devil.  Jesus received the Holy Ghost at baptism.  Does the Bible tell us that the Holy Ghost left Jesus on the cross?  No! Does it indicate that He left Jesus when He went to hell for us?  No!  We have a free will.  That being so, the Holy Ghost won’t leave us unless we ask.  And that’s a very bad move to make!

ü       In John 14:6 Jesus say, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  And in John 14:17 Jesus says the Holy Ghost is also the Spirit of truth.  Don’t you see the connection?  lol...lol…  Praise God.

Conclusion:  By sending Jesus to rescue us; it was the same as if the Father came.  Likewise, by Jesus being the ‘truth’ and the Holy Ghost also being the ‘truth’, being that the Holy Ghost can live in us just as Jesus, being that they both can intercede to the Father for us; they are both different but so much alike being a part of the one living God.  So, having the Holy Ghost here for us is the same as having the one and only Jesus here.  That being the case, Jesus knew that if it was ok to have Him here with us then it was cool to have the other Spirit of truth here, too.

Amen.

The post looks at the devotion. It is true that people used to develop devotion. The person explains his devotion to the article. The person explains that the Spirit through Elder Nash instructed him of what exactly a Devotion is and since the Spirit did not pick him as one of the volunteers to present a Devotion in class.
