He’s Just Like His Daddy
Here is my “Devotion”. The Spirit through Elder Nash, instructed me of what exactly a “Devotion” is. And since The Spirit did not choose me as one of the volunteers to present a “Devotion” in class, He has led me to present it to a methuselah(or bunch ) of bikers.
You ever been in the presence of someone and got to know them or things about them pretty well and one day see or meet a person just like them in their ways; only to find out, they are father and son? Or have you ever known someone so well, you knew what they were thinking and feeling before they expressed themselves in words?
Take a look in your Bibles at John 14:16-17. That would be the 4th book in the New Testament. I’m reading from the -Life Application- the first and only Bible I’ve ever owned. Pastor Lee and Minister Don Smith bought me this Bible and a Concordance back in ’93. It reads, 16) “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17) the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
ü Jesus says, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.”
ü When we pray….we say, ‘in Jesus name’, all the time. But what does that really mean? ‘in Jesus name’…. It means, as Christians, we must conduct ourselves like Jesus in all aspects of our lives; and not just prayer alone. So, when we pray and the Holy Ghost takes our prayer to the Father for us; we are asking Him to present it to the Father as though Jesus was speaking the words Himself. Like Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Him; we should be in Jesus and Jesus in us via the Holy Ghost. And if Jesus is in us, then the Father, Who is in Jesus, will also be in us, too and we in Him. So remember when we pray, to be like Jesus. How so? Well, He prayed things that were the will of the Father. And in a way that the father would receive/ listen to what was being spoken. Thank Jesus for the Holy Ghost! So, since Jesus also intercedes for us; make sure the Holy Ghost Guides your thinking and words to Jesus. So, do you think Jesus having the Father in His heart and the Father having Jesus in His heart had anything to do with Jesus answering the Father before the Father was asked? Take a look at John 14 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." Yes.
ü According to John 14:16 how long will the Holy Ghost be with us? Forever is right. So, what that tells us? That God the Father, Son or Holy Ghost does not give and take away. That’s a common lie of the devil. Jesus received the Holy Ghost at baptism. Does the Bible tell us that the Holy Ghost left Jesus on the cross? No! Does it indicate that He left Jesus when He went to hell for us? No! We have a free will. That being so, the Holy Ghost won’t leave us unless we ask. And that’s a very bad move to make!
ü In John 14:6 Jesus say, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” And in John 14:17 Jesus says the Holy Ghost is also the Spirit of truth. Don’t you see the connection? lol...lol… Praise God.
Conclusion: By sending Jesus to rescue us; it was the same as if the Father came. Likewise, by Jesus being the ‘truth’ and the Holy Ghost also being the ‘truth’, being that the Holy Ghost can live in us just as Jesus, being that they both can intercede to the Father for us; they are both different but so much alike being a part of the one living God. So, having the Holy Ghost here for us is the same as having the one and only Jesus here. That being the case, Jesus knew that if it was ok to have Him here with us then it was cool to have the other Spirit of truth here, too.
